Skid-Steer Operator (Labour Included)
Supports base preparation by grading, leveling, and compacting gravel. Operates skid-steer to move materials and assists the paving crew by loading asphalt from the truck into the paver. This role also includes hands-on labour—shoveling, raking, and jumping in wherever needed to keep the job moving.
Paver Operator (Labour Included)
Operates a smaller asphalt paver and manages the screed, which controls the thickness and smoothness of the asphalt mat. This role requires attention to grade, slope, and consistency to ensure a high-quality finish. Works closely with the crew to maintain a steady material flow and proper laydown.
Roller Operator (Labour Included)
Responsible for compacting both the base and asphalt to ensure a smooth, durable finish. During base prep, this means achieving proper density in the gravel. During paving, the roller operator uses specific techniques—such as breakdown rolling (initial compaction while asphalt is hottest), intermediate rolling (tightening the mat), and finish rolling (smoothing out marks and sealing the surface)—to produce a clean, long-lasting result.
Raker (Labour Included)
Works directly behind the paver to hand-shape and smooth asphalt, especially around edges, joints, and tight areas where the machine can’t reach. Ensures proper tie-ins, clean lines, and overall finish quality. A strong eye for detail and pride in the final product is key in this role.
Class 3 Driver
Handles hauling and disposal of base prep materials and asphalt. Responsibilities include transporting gravel, removing excavated material, and supporting paving operations by keeping material moving efficiently between sites. Plays a key role in keeping the crew productive and on schedule.
Class 1 Driver
Transports gravel, sand, and other materials to and from job sites. Also responsible for mat hauling, which can include oilfield-related work. Requires strong driving skills, safety awareness, and the ability to operate in a variety of environments.
